Eloise took her first massage class in 1987, but graduated from the Florida School of Massage in 1994 with 900 hours of training. She has done advance trainings in many modalities, but her bodywork is now the style that we teach at HHI – Therapeutic Deep Touch. Tom’s initial CMT training was accomplished at Hands on Healing Institute in Los Angeles CA followed by hundreds of hours of elective classes including John F. Barnes myofascial release seminars and Integrated Neuromuscular Re-Education. Tom works part time at the PT office. He teaches Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy part time at Hands on Healing Institute but mostly Tom loves giving individualized therapy to his clients in their home or at my home office. Frances Nicolais is the owner of Kneaded Experience Los Angeles (KneadedExperience-LA.com), the only chair massage business in LA based on Myofascial Release. Find out about this professional organization originally formed in 1995 offering quality massage that caters to individual personal needs. One of Los Angeles’ longest operating On-Site chair massage organizations. Frances also is the owner of the Myofascial Release Center (MFRCenter.com), a private, quiet, outpatient therapy clinic located in the Los Angeles area (Montrose/Glendale, in between Pasadena and Burbank), specializing in the John F. Barnes style of Myofascial Release. This is a manual therapy, slightly different than massage, that uses no lotions or creams, but connects deeply with your connective tissue (fascia) using sustained traction and/or compression for an opportunity to heal long-term.

Rosa earned a BS degree in Kinesiology/ Exercise Science in 1998 and began her career as a Personal Trainer who specialized in using exercise to help clients relieve chronic pain. She decided to add massage therapy to help clients get faster results and graduated from Hands on Healing Institute in 2006 where she continued her studies in Deep Tissue Massage. The combination of personal training and deep tissue massage kept Rosa very busy. In 2008, she traveled to Belize to study Maya Abdominal Massage with Dr. Arvigo. Mauro W. Zappaterra, MD, PhD, RPP, BCST, Reiki Master
Mauro graduated from Harvard Medical School and specializes in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with a particular focus on regenerative medicine, neuro-rehabilitation, neuroplasticity, and pain. He completed his PhD doing work with neuronal stem cells and the effects of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in brain development and in the adult. American Academy of Reflexology
American Academy of Reflexology was founded by Bill Flocco and offers a 150-hour certification course in “The Flocco Method” integrating hand, ear, and foot reflexology. We are proud that one of their main instructors, Lisa Chan, teaches a 28-hour reflexology course here at Hands On Healing.

National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB)
National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork is the web site to go to for information on requirements needed to take the National Test. We recommend our students use the “Portfolio Review Process”
Federation of State Massage Boards
The Federation of State Massage Boards offers the MBLEx test that is required by CAMTC for California State Certification. You can find what other states accepts this test for licensing here,
The Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB) is pleased to announce that the official study guide for the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx) is now available for purchase. The study guide also contains a practice exam. The Study Guide is the only official MBLEx preparation resource, published by the organization that owns and governs the MBLEx.
The Study Guide provides information related to MBLEx study tips, covers the eight content areas of the examination, and includes a 100-item MBLEx practice exam that allows candidates to assess their comprehension of sample MBLEx content.

The Associated Bodywork Massage Professionals is a professional organization for body-workers and skin care professionals that provide insurance coverage, business support, and educational resources. This is another resource for massage therapists to stay current with California’s future legislation and have a voice politically.

Touch Research Institute
The Touch Research Institute is dedicated to studying the effects of touch therapy. The TRI has researched the effects of massage therapy at all stages of life, from newborns to senior citizens. In these studies the TRI has shown that touch therapy has many positive effects
